Could your baby be suffering from a lactose intolerance?

A lactose intolerance is the inability to digest the type of sugar found in milk called lactose.

It is different to having a dairy allergy, where the body mistakes a protein within a specific food as harmful and has an immune response to it.

Lactose intolerance is treated differently to that of a dairy allergy. You should look out for these signs to tell if your baby might have a lactose intolerance:

Trapped wind
Flatulence
Noisy bowel sounds
Vomiting
Diarrhoea
Being unsettled
Frequent crying
Loose, watery stools (maybe green/yellow in colour)

You should seek medical help immediately if you feel your baby may have allergies or is lactose intolerant.
